Young Women in Excellence

Last night we had a great turn out for YW in Excellence. Addie did a great job in putting it together for her 10 hour project. All our Palmhurst girls are so talented. I'm so impressed with their singing abilities and performances. I would have been so frightned. Jackie Dahlquist conducted the meeting and was very cordial, I can see a leader in her every time I look at her. Ashley and Tiffany are blooming into beautiful women. I'm so happy to have them in my girls lives, what wonderful examples. Angie and Mary, the refreshments were wonderful...yum yum. Thank you all for everything you do.

A Young Woman of Excellence

by Melanie Cain
A Young Woman of ExcellenceWho we all want to be
Doesn't come easy or even naturally.
You must exercise faith that Heavenly Father is there,
everyday in good works and in scripture and prayer.
You become a great woman when you stand tall and true,
so never give up, because the Savior loves you.
Don't be discouraged, when you make a wrong choice.
Do your best to stick to your values and your inner voice.
It's hard to shine bright when the world is so dark.
The Lord knows your struggles and the journey you've embarked.
Choose your paths wisely and soon you will be,
a Woman of Excellence, shinning bright for all to see.

Mount Timanogos

We will be going to SLC at December month end. My nephew Blake and his Annie are being married in the Mt. Tipinogos temple. Robert teases Blake that he has made that place up, there is no such temple. But I've set him straight.

BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING

What a total waste of time. Inflated prices and untruths were told. I was so excited to buy a freezer this year. I had gone to Kmart 2 weeks ago and was told that I could get this 16.1 cu ft Kenmore upfright frrzer for "around $250.00". Well if $399.00 is $250.00 then those folks are mental. I was way too excited and now I'm so let down. We have been very sick with a terrible bug and I dragged myself out to buy this at 6 a.m. and talk to the manager only to be told, no way, then looking all around the store walked out without purchasing anything. Not even a scarf. Why stand in line to save $1? I am sticking to my plan, baking, homemaking gifts and giving and getting food storage for Christmas.

Are there really only 5 more paydays until Christmas?

So I've been thinking about the economy and how much money people don't have and how often everyone is complaining about it. But really, can't we all just simplify? I've been looking all over for ways to do just this. I found a recipe to make my own laundry soap, and yes, I'm really gonna try it. It's so easy, and I figure it's about $3 to do 16 loads of laundry. Not too bad. And I'm praying for really clean clothes. By all accounts of other bloggers, they are the cleanest clothes they have yet to have. And I've also found a great pattern for some inexpensive homemade gifts for the holiday's. Homemade says I care more, not that I'm cheap, at least that is what it always used to mean when I was growing up. There is no reason why everyone has to go into the hole paying months off of debt just to see a few smiles on Christmas morning. I would say that the best gift I could have is waking up to a nice breakfast and seeing my kids in their new P.J.'s, and laughing at each other opening up the lame pair of socks they give each other. Those are the best traditions.

What a weekend!

High's and lows all weekend. I took Friday off so we could organize the house and do a good clean. I also had 4 pairs of Band uniform pant's to hem. Luckily only 2 were pinned up and I quickly did that before taking Alex over to the school for the Football game. Friday night we all went to the Bonanza Football game. All so we could watch Alex march in the marching band. The fundraising concession stand did very well, although we need a little more organization. Had to run to get items to sell at the stand, but we did good. Jackie, her friend Dawn and Robert all went up in the stands and sold. Afterwards, Alex went to Denny's with the band gang. We went to a different Denny's,,,,I wonder why? Then I went and sat outside her Denny's until she was done eating. Saturday we ran up to Cedar City very fast since we woke up late. Sadly we went to our great-niece's funeral. Kira Mitsuru Plumb was born on October 1st and faught hard for 12 hours to stay in this mortal existence. She was layed to rest in Cedar City after her father, Michael Derrick dedicated her grave. We then went down to St. George with the rest of my family 28 members in all, only missing a few people. We watched General conference and the Men went to the Priesthood session. Sunday more of conference. Very edifying. We loved it and visiting with everyone was so great.

When

When your reasons to move forward outweigh your excuses for staying put, you will move forward. When your thirst for success is more powerful than the desire to stay within your comfort zone, you will succeed. When the reward is meaningful enough, you will act. When you connect your deepest purpose with the goals you set, those goals will be achieved. When you understand that there is a real and accessible pathway to the most magnificent dreams you can dream, you'll get yourself on that path. When you know without a doubt that every action has consequence, you'll focus all your actions in a positive and valuable direction. When you love what you do, you'll do it with grace and ease and excellence. When you do what you love, you'll provide a steady stream of unique and extraordinary gifts to life. When you are completely clear about why, you'll be able to figure out how. When you let go of the need to need, you'll fall into a massive sea of beautiful abundance. When you are ready, life is here to fully live.Choose it, and now is when.Ralph Marston

Don’t Feel Deep Sorrow

Don’t look a bit run-down, Life has its ups and downs. World is full of good and bad, All are not foe, don’t go mad. Let’s face the facts, Things are not all cracked. Let’s clean up our acts, Don’t stick to the facts. Hey my dear! Don’t be woeful, With grief, life is meaningful. In weeping we take refuge, tops, Flowers freshened with dew drops. Life is a tale of woe, Don’t feel deep sorrow, Life has its own shadow, Don’t make it taboo. Too many are alone like you, The many suffer wounds of time as you, Don’t feel deep sorrow, Don’t kick up a row. Heaven is for us tomorrow, See God, don’t you know? Leave the world up to God, Pray for world side by side.

My Testimony

Many people wonder if they have a testimony of Jesus Christ, of their own religion, or of their own belief system. They ask themselves how can I know what I believe in? There is so much coming at them all at once, what is it that I really believe? A 14 year old boy who studied his Bible read from John 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and abraideth not, and it shall be given unto him." He went to a beautiful place where he could converse with the Lord and he asked for wisdom to know what to do. He finally received his wisdom and began to humbly share it with the World. It's as simple as that people. Pray with all your heart, search your soul, read your scriptures, love your fellow man as you would love yourself, show compassion and charity, and be kind. Christ was a man and the Son of God, and my brother, he died so we may live. Do not live with regret, do not think your sins are too great to be forgiven. God loved us so he sent his Son, who died on the cross to atone for our sins. We are not perfect, we will never be perfect, until that great day when we stand before Christ and are judged and forgiven. If you stumble he will catch you, if you fall he will carry you. Choose ye this day whom ye shall serve, as for me an my house we shall serve the Lord. I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, he restored the church on the earth as it was built by Jesus Christ in his time. I testify to this in Jesus name, Amen.

Jackie the Arteest

I came home from work today to be bombarded with Jackie's artwork. I will have to figure a way to post her latest drawing. Dinosaurs.
Charity

Charity is the pure love of Christ. It is the love that Christ has for the children of men and that the children of men should have for one another. It is the highest, noblest, and strongest kind of love and the most joyous to the soul (see 1 Nephi 11:23).
